    One-to-One Learning:

One-to-one learning is at the heart of Mission Literacy in Motion. Our program pairs adult learners, aged 18 and up, with trained volunteer literacy tutors.

The program focuses on each learner’s unique needs and goals. Tutors use this information to create personalized lesson plans that fit the learner’s situation.

Tutor and learner meet for 1-2 hours a week at a time that works for both. This flexible approach makes the learning journey enjoyable and manageable.

    Benefits of One-to-One Learning:

    • Flexible content: Assessments help us find knowledge gaps, and tutors plan activities to address them.
    • Community impact: When people improve their literacy, the whole community benefits.
    • Practical life skills: Tutors help learners build essential skills like reading bills, navigating public transit, understanding medicine labels, getting a driver’s license, and filling out job applications.
